Access, Authentication and Accounting

• Beacon Frames

  • Closed networks do not advertise; turn off the beacon.
  • Good 802.11 sniffers can pick up the SSID (network name) anyway.

• MAC Address Filtering

  • Static lists (lots of work) or via Radius servers.
  • Trivial to clone a MAC address
