Broadcast vs. Streaming

This is a paper I wrote for the Motorola Research Visionary Board (RVB) for the 2005 session. In it I state that the current AM and FM "standard broadcast bands" listenership is shrinking and it is far more cost effective to us IP protocols for broadcasters to distribute content. I also point out that the old method of terrestial broadcasting is too costly as the debt service that most stations have to cover is not enough to justify using only this method. They need to branch out to increase revenue.

I also have a spread sheet that you can play with to see what it costs to deliver content to 1 user via IP streaming vs. the traditional over-the-air methods.
